Sustainable Urbanism in Action
The floor was open when Michigan City Mayor Angie Nelson Dieutch and Farr Associates President Mercedes Miley hosted a public meeting at Michigan City’s City Hall to talk with residents about the future of the Indiana State Prison site. With thanks to ALCO for capturing the meeting, you can peek into the process and see our boots on the ground!
The design and Michigan City team addressed many common questions and provided target options to meeting attendees, including concerns for the cemetery, amenities such as access to fresh food, and transportation. Congratulations to the City of Evanston and Climate Action Evanston on the success of the Healthy Buildings Ordinance and the Stretch Energy Code Adoption!
Farr Associates Principal Len Sciarra has been providing his expertise behind-the-scenes as a member of Evanston's Building Electrification Working Group. He is the Vice Chair of ASHRAE 90.1, which is the cognizant committee responsible for the development of standard 90.1, the consensus-based energy code referenced in both federal and local regulations. He also worked with the Illinois Capital Development Board to develop the Illinois Stretch Code.
